What’s Good With H Moneda?

Moneda, Moneda, Moneda!

Now, I don’t know about you, but to me, an artist’s name is almost as important as their content. It should represent them, and their music in its totality. It should ring bells. Be a conversation starter. Only if you want to be remembered that is. So when I hear a name like H Moneda (Moneda translates to currency in Spanish), I’m already interested. My introduction to him was through another UK artist, 6ix, who’s One EP I listened to religiously. Fast forward to track 3, Saucin, where I got to hear a nostalgic line from H Moneda, “mask on, Stanley Ipkis.” If you never watched Jim Carey’s The Mask, my sincerest apologies on your rotten childhood. Sorry, not sorry. The minute I heard that line, my ears perked up.
What happens next you ask? I go on Youtube of course, to see what he’s bringing to the table. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical. Maybe it was because he was from the South. Nonetheless, I decided to turn down negative Nancy and give the music a fair chance. That was a lesson in itself. I went from listening to “10/10”, to finishing his whole playlist, to purchasing his EP Foreign Exchange. And when I was done with that, I moved over to his radio freestyles where he kept that same high energy, voice inflection, and charisma, and delivers nothing but bars. Truly a testament to, don’t knock it till you try it.

So I’m into the music, but I’ve found myself curious about the artist. Who is H Moneda? I’ll be honest, this doesn’t end in me sharing all his personal and most intimate details. However, I did learn that he’s definitely not the new rapper on the block, and he’s certainly not contained to just his block either. He has a long history in music, coming up as a producer at first, before he had to serve some time. H used his time in prison creating and planning a better future for himself. Upon his release, he followed his blueprint, and began to build what would eventually become Mache Money, with him being the lead artist.
And he hasn’t slowed down since. From his vast selection of incredible videos, international appearances at festivals such as Atlanta’s Hip Hop Day and A3C festival, as well as joining the Young Money tour in Europe this past summer, H Moneda is driven, and proving to really live up to his name. Farewell negative Nancy. It was a burden knowing ya.
